Description: As Medical Imaging improves, it becomes possible not only to see the anatomical target for DBS surgery but also to verify that the leads have reached the correct location. There is evidence that lead location on post-op MRI is more predictive of clinical outcome than MER recording. In addition there is the added benefit of being able to offer surgery to patients under general anesthesia without having to withdraw from PD medication.
This course will allow participants to explore the methods required to adopt an Image Verified approach to DBS surgery in their own institution.
